They were the first couple in MAFS history to receive an annulment.
The consensus was that Meka and Michael didn’t have much in common and never should have been matched, but this problem often happens due to the fake aspects of MAFS. Their personalities are entirely different, and so are their approaches to life. Additionally, Michael’s dishonesty always cropped up and caused problems. For example, Michael lied to Meka about his workplace. When she confronted him about it, he talked in circles and then shut down. Towards the end of the season, it is evident that they will not stay together.

Michael sought an annulment after MAFS. He released a now-deleted YouTube video with his girlfriend at the time, as well as the drama from his MAFS season. The former reality star added that he had emotionally left his marriage with Meka early on in the process because it didn’t seem like the real thing. His lies came from the pressure to do more, and Michael concluded the video with an apology.

For Halloween 2023, the family dressed up as characters from the Barbie universe, including Michael and Shay’s daughter, Tahiry. After she settled things with Michael, Meka had an annulment party. Since then, she’s been having fun posting cute photos on her Instagram and enjoying get-togethers with friends. Meka lives as a content creator and influencer in Hawaii, where she posts lifestyle and fitness videos for her followers. Recently, the former reality TV star celebrated her 30th birthday in style. She remains single.
The MAFS process did not work for the former couple, but it did help Michael acknowledge some of his issues. Things seem amicable between Meka and Michael, and it is nice to see that they have both been able to move on. MAFS couples will always learn something about themselves, even if they don’t stay together. Hopefully, the couples on Married at First Sight season 17 will have more luck.
