Married At First Sight season 17 ended without any of the couples still together, despite the hope that their matches would stick. The couples’ issues had been obvious for long enough that there was very little surprise when the results of the season left the couples choosing divorce. With Lauren Good & Orion Martzloff, Austin Reed & Becca Haley, Clare Kerr & Cameron Frazer, Emily Balch & Brennan Shoykhet, and Chloe Brown & Michael Shiakallis all in attendance, things got off to a rocky start from the jump. Married At First Sight’s reunion host, Kevin Frazier, did his best to keep the peace amid drama.

The Women Insinuated The Men Organized A Plan To Deceive Production

Early on during the Married At First Sight season 17 reunion, host Kevin pointed out that none of the couples were sitting together, aside from Michael and Chloe. The women were on one side of the room while the men were on the other, which was a Married At First Sight first. The women, who were wearing matching pink outfits aside from Chloe, explained they were coming together in unity, as they felt the men had led them astray during their time on the show. While the men were quiet about what they’d allegedly done, the women didn’t hold back.

The women explained that prior to the group getting far into filming, the men of the cast made the decision that they would “direct” the way things were going to go when they were on camera. Essentially, the women alleged that the men weren’t being their authentic selves in their relationships on camera, which led to a major disconnect between who they were on camera and who they were off camera. The men were quick to jump to their own defense, explaining it was actually the women’s idea, but there was no proof for either side to fall back on.

During their solo interview, Clare and Cameron quickly began disagreeing about everything, from their relationship to where they stood now. While their current relationship is still nonexistent, both of them seem to have some unresolved issues and pain from their marriage. After rehashing what happened between them on Married At First Sight season 17, Clare explained she felt Cameron had masterminded the plan amongst the men to be inauthentic on camera to make themselves look good for the show. Cameron refused the claim, explaining that this was something Clare wanted to do, and they couldn’t come to a conclusion together.

When discussing their relationship, Clare explained that she felt Cameron wasn’t attracted to her from some incredibly early comments he made to her about the experts not matching him with someone “slender and European.” While Cameron tried to refute that he wasn’t attracted to Clare, he explained he wasn’t proud of some of the things he’d said to her during their marriage. The couple struggled through conversations and ultimately it became clear why they didn’t work out. Clare shared that she was dating someone new, while Cameron had come to the reunion wondering if they could give things another try.

Becca and Austin’s relationship on Married At First Sight season 17 was tough for viewers to come to grips with. While had a decent connection, Becca was pushing for more intimacy while Austin felt that he wasn’t ready to go there. The couple hashed out their issues several times, both on their own and with the experts, but they were never really able to conclude why they weren’t being intimate outside of Austin’s reservations. Austin explained that he was attracted to Becca, but needed more time to connect. Despite trying to reassure her, Becca often felt rejected in their marriage.

During the Married At First Sight season 17 reunion, Becca and Austin discussed the relationship, and both apologized to one another for the way that things ended. Becca explained that Austin spending time with a Married At First Sight producer was a difficult toll on their marriage, especially after he lied to her about doing so. She pointed out several instances where Austin could’ve been more upfront or honest with her, and Austin conceded that she was right. Ultimately, they both knew they wouldn’t see eye-to-eye nor would they be able to agree on who was more in the wrong.

The healthiest Married At First Sight season 17 relationship, Chloe and Michael, wound up choosing not to stay married on Decision Day despite appearing to have a great relationship on the show. Michael, who was Married At First Sight’s first groom who was left at the altar, talked about his first wedding with host Kevin, explaining that it was difficult to move forward afterward, but he was glad he did. Ultimately, their MAFS reunion segment was used to take a deeper look at why the pair chose not to stay married, despite having a tremendously strong and seemingly healthy connection.

Chloe explained that she did feel like there were some red flags in her and Michael‘s relationship early on, but she was willing to overlook them to make a more genuine connection with him. She explained she didn’t like that Michael hadn’t told his mother about their wedding because of her reservations, as well as the fact that Michael was somewhat less open with her than she felt she was with him. The couple ultimately seems to share a decent level of respect, which is why both were able to discuss their reasoning for not venturing further into their relationship.
