Married At First Sight: What Happened To Michael Shiakallis After Season 17?

Michael Shiakallis has come a long way since his appearance on Married at First Sight. The 39-year-old reality star was part of Lifetime’s Married at First Sight season 17. Michael was different from other cast members, as he didn’t have a typical on-screen journey. Michael was supposed to marry a woman who chose to run away and ditch him at the altar. This betrayal left him with no option but to try his luck again. Experts matched the Denver local with another suitable partner. They picked the American Heart Association’s Senior Director, Chloe Brown, for Michael.

Michael’s journey with his new partner also didn’t go as smoothly as he had hoped. When he began dating his 40-year-old partner, he realized his instant connection with her. Unfortunately, things changed after the honeymoon as Michael grew scared of losing his freedom because of his new relationship. He started pulling himself away from his wife instead of adapting to his new married life. Michael also didn’t show a lot of interest in purchasing a home quickly. While Chloe tried her best to make her relationship work, she couldn’t do much to fix Michael’s sudden change of heart.

Chloe didn’t know if things were “meant to be.”

Michael felt afraid of settling down and losing his freedom. When the day of the decision arrived, Chloe chose to say yes. However, Michael blindsided her by saying no and felt that divorcing his wife after a few months of experimentation was the best outcome for him. Michael victimized himself by saying he didn’t have everything necessary to satisfy Chloe.

Michael Has Been Labeled A Villain

Michael received sympathy on social media when his first bride betrayed him. However, his social image has changed significantly since then. Michael’s on-screen attitude, immaturity, and lack of care for Chloe turned everyone against him. He became the ultimate villain of Married at First Sight season 17 by showing that he was superficial. Some fans are glad that the bride chose to run away, as Michael would’ve done the same to her that he did to Chloe. Throughout the season, Michael showed a false sense of confidence. He wasn’t ready for commitment and wasted Chloe’s time, making her a divorcee.

Michael’s IG Bio Reads, “Be A Good Man With Motion”

Even though Michael became a villain for fans, he labels himself a good person.

His Instagram bio reads, “a good man with motion,” and shows some of his positive traits.

Michael promotes a cancer charity on his social media, asking people to “donate to defeat cancer.” Michael also keeps his Instagram private, showing he doesn’t want to cash in on his reality TV gig or become a public figure. While Michael showed immaturity, he wasn’t the worst cast member of Married at First Sight, as that crown goes to Orion Martzloff.
