After the honeymoon period had passed, it was clear that Katie and Derek had quite different perspectives on life, and extremely different expectations when it came to the details of daily living.
As a dreamer, Derek Sherman wanted to try a variety of things and don a variety of hats. Fans of Married at First Sight will recall that when he shared these hopes and plans with his bride, she essentially crushed them in favor of more realistic, narrower goals.
Suffice it to say; it wasn’t a big surprise when these two eventually ended up calling it quits as a couple.

Of course, one of the biggest things Married at First Sight fans watch for after a failed marriage is who previous cast members end up with next. In Katie Conrad’s case, she found a new man, remarried, and had a baby boy.
And, even though Derek Sherman hasn’t quite moved at the same pace as his ex, he, too, found love again after his disastrous marriage to Katie Conrad. In fact, Derek first publicly shared pics with his new love interest back in May – and fans couldn’t be happier for him.
It turns out, Derek’s new woman, Adilah, slid into his DMs – as many often do these days. And, after the pair’s first date, the rest, as they say, was history. And, according to Derek, he has “never been happier”.

In addition to finding love again on his own, it’s clear that Derek’s time with Katie Conrad didn’t dull his adventurous spirit. Indeed, he regularly updates his followers with his latest adventure trekking across the globe. And in many ways, he has everything he wants out of life now.
According to Derek, “everything worked out for a reason”. And, he has what he has now because of the experience he went through on Married at First Sight. And, in the end, it’s clear that both Derek and Katie are happier with their current partners than they ever were with each other. And, in both their cases, the experts getting it wrong worked out for the best.
