Eden McCoy was just 12 years old when she joined General Hospital as legacy character Josslyn Jacks in 2015. Josslyn is the daughter of Carly Corinthos (Laura Wright) and Jasper “Jax” Jacks (Ingo Rademacher.) Rademacher left the show in 2021 after refusing the COVID vaccination required.

Now 20, Eden McCoy was nominated for a daytime Emmy in the Outstanding Younger Performer category. She faced an onslaught of criticism online for the nomination due to her age. She was nominated alongside Cary Christopher, 8, Henry Joseph Samiri, 10, and Victoria Grace, 19.

Victoria Grace withdrew her nomination after the backlash. Many fans didn’t feel the age gap was fair for the younger actors.

However, Eden McCoy kept her nomination and ended up winning the Emmy. GH star Sonya Eddy, who passed away one year ago, was awarded the Outstanding Supporting Performance posthumously.

Including Eddy, multiple GH stars passed away this year, including Jacklyn Zeman (Bobbie,) Billy Miller (Jason Morgan,) and Tyler Christopher (Nikolas Cassadine.)

The daytime soap also suffered a huge loss when Roger Howarth left.

Actress Eden McCoy had a tragedy happen in her personal life when her mother passed away from cancer. The heartbreaking loss came just last month.

On the episode airing Monday, December 18, viewers were surprised to find a new actress playing Josslyn Jacks. Courtney Fulk has temporarily stepped into the role. Her previous credits include Killer Cheer Mom, Devil’s Ride, and more. However, General Hospital is her first role on a soap.

Soap Opera News was the first to reveal the news of McCoy’s replacement. Neither the actress or General Hospital shared any more information about the reason for the recast or when – or if – Eden McCoy will return.

However, the devastating loss of her mother is likely the reason behind Eden McCoy taking a break from the soap. She may share more about her decision in the future.

In the meantime, fans should give Courtney Fulk a chance for stepping into such an important role on the soap on short notice.

What do you think is the reason behind the recast? Should Eden McCoy have withdrawn her Emmy nomination?
