90 Day Fiancé’s Brandan Almost Gets “Cold Feet” Before Awkwardly Proposing To Mary (Will She Say Yes?)
90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way star Brandan DeNuccio is asking Mary Demasu-ay to marry him in the most awkward proposal in 90 Day Fiancé history. Brandan, a 23-year-old from Oregon, met the 23-year-old Mary on a dating app. Both the youngsters had been cheated on by their exes. They both also had dark childhoods where they were separated from their parents at an early age. This led to severe trust issues between the reality TV couple that stayed glued to their phones 24/7 on video calls. But even when Brandan moved to the Philippines two years later, things didn’t really change, as he had to deal with Mary’s extreme jealousy.
To make matters more complicated, Brandan and Mary are now pregnant with their first baby. As revealed in a preview for the next episode of The Other Way season 5, courtesy of People, Brandan proposes to Mary even before telling their families about their pregnancy. He takes her to what appears to be a storage space to ask her to be his wife. “Getting cold feet all of a sudden,” he says out loud before his awkward proposal. “This has been a long time coming and I just wanted to basically say that you know I love you and I don’t know how else to say this other than to just, you know, kind of show you,” Brandan says while pulling out a heart-shaped box.

“What’s that?” asks Mary, and Brandan tells her that “hopefully” if she says yes, then it’s going to be her engagement ring. Mary has zero emotions on her face while watching Brandan fumble through his makeshift proposal. He pops the question to Mary while telling her he didn’t rehearse it at all. Mary, however, looks disgusted when Brandan asks her to marry him. Mary had been given strict rules to follow with Brandan by her grandparents. The couple was not allowed to be intimate with each other before marriage for the sake of their culture and traditions. Just three months after Brandan moved to the Philippines, Mary revealed she was pregnant.

Mary claimed she had baby fever. They were “humans,” she argued. She wanted to give her “all” to Brandan. Even he was confident about fathering a baby. It’s why they apparently started “trying” to get pregnant. Brandan did start having doubts when Mary took two pregnancy tests to confirm their baby’s arrival. At 23, they are both without jobs. Brandan left America with a few hundred dollars in his savings because he’d already spent about $60,000 on building a house for Mary. Now the couple is unmarried, with a soon-to-arrive baby and with no idea about when they’re going to get married.
Brandan’s proposal, while it does confirm that he wants to spend his life forever with Mary, isn’t too impressive for her to say yes. Mary’s face emotes how unhappy she is with Brandan giving her what looks like a cheap ring, when she may have expected something better. Mary has already given up her college and dance career for Brandan. The least he could have done for her is planned a special proposal. Still, Brandan and Mary seem to still be together, from what their social media posts reveal. It suggests Mary couldn’t bring herself to reject Brandan on 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way as she really, truly loves him.
