Why The Married At First Sight Season 17 Cast Should Be Embarrassed

Married at First Sight couples aren’t always compatible, but the season 17 cast showed the worst compatibility. The Lifetime series has been popular since 2014. Despite that, it has only featured a few couples who have built lasting relationships. Season 17 stood out the most because it featured no compatible cast members. Most duos broke up or gave up on the relationship way too soon. Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer’s journey was one of the worst in the latest season. They both made big mistakes until Cameron admitted that he had lied every day of their marriage to protect Clare.

MAFS season 17 was also full of lies and deception. The Decision Day showed Becca Haley and Austin Reed admitting they wanted to give their love another chance. However, it wasn’t long before Becca revealed to the cameras that Austin had decided to meet an MAFS producer privately and hadn’t told her about it. She felt hurt and decided to end things immediately. Other pairs, like Emily Balch & Brennan Shoykhet, Orion Martzloff & Lauren Goodger, and Michael Shiakallis & Chloe Brown, also showcased behavioral problems. Many of them refused to make sacrifices for the future of their relationships.

Unlike other dating reality TV shows, MAFS involves cast members planning their future together before their wedding ceremonies. In season 14, four couples out of five said yes. Similarly, season 15 showed three couples out of five deciding to stay together. Unfortunately, the couples from Denver in season 17 proved to be worse when it came to commitment. None of them could make their relationship last or show enthusiasm to work things out. Orion and Lauren broke up early on in the season. The independent contractor declared he wasn’t attracted to his former lover.

Emily and Brennan split after she saw some girls messaging him on Instagram. She got angry and hooked up with an Australian guy, breaking her marriage vows before celebrating her first anniversary. Michael and Chole couldn’t make things work because Michael got afraid of losing his freedom. He wanted more time to enjoy his single life, even though he was already nearly 40 at the time of filming. Clare and Cameron ended things when Cameron blindsided her by stating he saw her as his “sister.” Meanwhile, Becca and Austin broke up after Becca discovered her man had met a producer.

There Is Animosity Among The Season 17 Cast

MAFS season 17 cast members also meddled with each other’s relationships. These interferences sparked rivalries and ruined most group activities and dinners. The reunion gatherings mostly saw all the women supporting each other and bashing their men. They ganged up together to seek revenge and started to victimize themselves.

Their behavior also united the men, making the group interactions extremely hostile.

The whole thing made everyone look bad and didn’t help any relationships. These gatherings also embarrassed many viewers because cast members turned the romantic show into a cheap parody of MAFS.

Women trying to blame men in MAFS was cringeworthy to watch. At one point, Emily, Becca, and Lauren decided to spend some time with Orion and Austin. However, they didn’t try to interact with them peacefully but chose to call them out for their past mistakes. The ladies pressured Orion about why he betrayed Lauren and decided to end the experiment with her so early on.

They made it seem like he robbed her of the experience, leading Orion to defend himself and say, “I didn’t cut anything short. I found out this isn’t what I wanted.”

The Season 17 Cast Can’t Take Accountability

Humility and modesty are important personality traits. Unfortunately, the cast of MAFS season 17 was extremely pretentious and self-centered. Cameron was wrong in leading Clare on, only telling her he saw her as his sister. He should’ve owned up to his mistakes but chose to act like he lied to protect Clare. Orion wasn’t any better. He led Lauren on for the longest time and accused her of making an insensitive racial joke. Orion made it look like Lauren was a racist by referring to his skin as red instead of simply telling her that he wasn’t attracted to her.

Emily and Brennan’s story concluded unexpectedly. Emily cheated on her beau with an Australian man and walked off like she had done something brave. She took no accountability for her terrible actions. Similarly, Becca pretended that she loved Austin a lot. She cried at the thought of losing him and then chose to end things just because he met up with a producer. Even though Austin seemed eager to work things out, Becca gave up too soon and showed no remorse. She also used the opportunity to escape the relationship without feeling guilty.

Season 17 Was The Most Unsuccessful Season Ever

MAFS season 17 will go down in the history books as the one season that failed on all fronts. The season didn’t feature any lasting relationships or friendships.

Instead, it provided a platform for individuals who were undeserving of attention and fame.

Since the show’s inception in 2014, numerous couples have been introduced. While not all said yes on the final decision Day, many tried to make things work. Season 1 featured Jamie Otis-Hehner and Doug Hehner, who are still married with two kids. Season 16 featured Nicole Lilienthal and Christopher Thielk, who successfully navigated marital challenges.

Unfortunately, season 17 didn’t feature a single worthwhile pair. Not only did all the couples break up, but they also made the show unwatchable. The runaway bride drama was the cherry on top. Many viewers complained about the show on social media, discussing how MAFS season 17 was the worst. Some blamed the producers and experts for pairing incompatible cast members without noting they weren’t physically attracted to each other. Others thought it was similar to the infamous season 4, known for being the most boring. Hopefully, Married at First Sight season 18 will win over viewers.
