These Married At First Sight Season 17 Cast Members Joined The Show For The Wrong Reasons

Lifetime aired Part 1 of the Married At First Sight season 17 cast Reunion, and it’s time to address the cast members who may have joined the show for all the wrong reasons. The long-running unscripted Lifetime show that matches up strangers in legal matrimony has always had a terrible track record. Since the series premiered in 2014, the show’s relationship experts have been using data, experience, and intuition to make matches. Though the shows had some success stories, like Jamie Otis and Doug Hehner from season 1, the couples usually get divorced.

Married At First Sight season 17 made history, in that it featured the series’ first runaway bride. Season 17 failed to yield any successful marriages, with one of the marriages even ending during their honeymoon. Only one couple said yes on Decision Day, but they decided to break up the very next day. The stunning level of this season’s romantic failure has led to questions about some participants’ motives. Some of the behavior that played out during the season has led to allegations that some of this season’s spouses didn’t join the show for the right reasons.

Clare Allegedly Had A Boyfriend

Married At First Sight's Cameron Frazer and Clare Kerr talking on their wedding day

Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer decided to divorce in Married at First Sight season 17, but Clare might have moved on during her marriage. Clare and Cameron seemed compatible at their wedding, but they never found a spark. Though Cameron was attracted to Clare, she didn’t reciprocate the feeling. They also weren’t compatible in terms of religion. Clare is a devout Catholic who wants to raise her children in the church, while Cameron is an atheist.

” Clare shared that she was in love with her boyfriend. You’re f***ing someone else .”

In the trailer for Married at First Sight season 17’s Reunion episode, Cameron was shown saying, “This is my first experience being gaslit.” He continued by saying, “Clare shared that she was in love with her boyfriend. You’re f***ing someone else.” Clare responded by telling Cameron to keep lying. If Cameron is right about Clare sleeping with someone else, it would prove that Clare went into season 17 with the wrong intentions and was not ready to get married. Clare denied the accusation at the Reunion.

Cameron Wanted To Control Everyone’s Narratives

The Married At First Sight season 17 cast gathered after Decision Day, and Clare accused Cameron of silencing her. Cameron responded by exposing Clare as a “puppet master,” liar, and manipulator. He went on to accuse her of silencing him. It’s possible that Cameron’s accusation about Clare’s alleged cheating is just another attempt by him to control the narrative. The Reunion episode showcased the women banding together against their exes, with the women alledging that Cameron was the ring leader of strategizing everyone’s narratives for better optics.

Cameron and Clare pretended to be on good terms after their breakup, but that was proven to be an act after Cameron called Clare a liar during the group gathering.

Brennan Wanted To Look Good On TV

Brennan Shoyket and Emily Balch met on the day of their wedding, and the pair initially seemed to hit it off. They had a fun wedding and honeymoon, but they struggled to make their relationship work. Brennan wasn’t attracted to Emily, and she was frustrated with the lack of progress in their relationship.

Though everyone else seemed to really appreciate Emily’s fun-loving party-girl persona, her outgoing personality made Brennan visibly uncomfortable.

When they attended the wedding of Michael Shiakallis and Chloe Brown, Emily drank a little too much and embarrassed Brennan, who cares a lot about his image. This was probably the biggest issue for the Married At First Sight season 17 stars. When Emily suffered an ATV accident during a couple’s retreat, Brennan stood by her side. It seemed like maybe the accident had brought them closer together, but it’s likely that Brennan stuck by her because of how it would make him look if he didn’t.

Brennan cared more about his image than about building a successful marriage.

Orion Wanted A Platform For His Native American Heritage

Lauren Goodger and Orion Martzloff hit it off the moment they laid eyes on each other. They had a great time at their wedding and even enjoyed the first few days of their honeymoon. However, after Lauren commented on Orion’s “red face,” it was downhill from there. Though she was referring to the fact that he was sunburned from being out in the Mexican sun, Orion, a Native American, took her comment as a racial slur.

Lauren explained herself and apologized repeatedly for the perceived slight, but Orion simply couldn’t get over it because he was addicted to being a victim.

He’d rather feel oppressed than be happy, which is why Lauren dodged a bullet when he demanded a divorce. They didn’t even make it out of their honeymoon. Orion’s behavior made it seem like he had joined the cast of Married At First Sight season 17 to platform his Native American heritage, not to find his wife. This was the point that Lauren tried to drive home during the Reunion.

Chloe Was Disingenuous

Married At First Sight’s Chloe and Michael looking serious

After being left at the altar during the premiere of Married At First Sight season 17, Michael was matched with a new bride, Chloe, but there are signs that Chloe has ulterior motives. Michael’s first bride, whose face was never shown, made her way down the aisle but said she didn’t think she could marry a stranger and proceeded to run away. The show’s relationship experts offered Michael a second chance at finding love with a stranger by setting him up with a second bride. Later in the season, Michael met and married Chloe, and the couple hit it off.

As more information about Chloe has surfaced since the wedding, her motives for appearing on the show are being questioned.

Soon after their Married At First Sight season 17 wedding and honeymoon, Michael and Chloe went on a couple’s retreat, where Chloe revealed she had a party girl past and had partied with celebrities in her youth. This surprising revelation has led to speculation that Chloe has ulterior motives for being on the show. Though Chloe claimed to be looking for love, it’s possible that she appeared on Married At First Sight for reality TV fame instead.
