The Married At First Sight Experts Failed When They Didn’t Choose Chloe For Michael The First Time

The Married at First Sight season 17 experts failed and mismatched Michael Shiakallis the first time around when they should have chosen his latest bride, Chloe Brown all along. In the latest episode, Michael and Chloe finally met each other at the altar for the first time as strangers. Michael had to shake off the nerves and anxiety from his first wedding and focus on the new opportunity he had. Chloe came into the experience with an open heart and a desire to give into the process and accept the man the experts chose.

Married at First Sight season 17 is a little more than halfway through, as the remaining couples celebrated their one-month anniversaries an episode back. This season started with four couples getting married to a stranger, Cameron Frazer and Clare Kerr, Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet, Lauren Goodger and Orion Martzloff, and Becca Haley and Austin Reed. Orion asked for a divorce from Lauren upon returning from their honeymoon while Cameron and Clare separated on their one-month anniversary. Now, Michael and Chloe are jumping into the experiment in the middle of it in a Married at First Sight first, which is something the experts could have prevented.

Michael Was Ditched At The Altar By His First Bride

Originally the Married at First Sight experts, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Calvin “Cal” Roberson, and Dr. Pia Holec, chose a different bride for Michael. While matching him, they said he would be hard to pair because his partner would need to understand his uniqueness. The experts got his match wrong, and Michael stood hopeful and excited at the altar only for his unknown bride to tell him she was not ready to marry a stranger before she ditched him and left (via ET.)

Michael was understandably devastated and took time to process the “biggest failure” of his personal life. However, the experts came to him again, feeling bad, and said they were going to find him another match. A short time later, Dr. Pepper notified Michael they found him the right girl, and Michael accepted the opportunity to get Married at First Sight a second time.

Chloe Has All The Qualities Michael Is Looking For

Michael, 38, is a Project Manager for a living and presents himself as emotionally available and mature. Michael has an eccentric side and loves bold fashion. Chloe, 39, delivers exactly what Michael asked for. He wanted a sweet, kind, and intelligent woman who also had a silly side. He is finding all these qualities and more in Chloe. Chloe is a Non-Profit Director with a self-described “bleeding heart.” She is a “recovering perfectionist” who practices minimalism and loves saving senior dogs.

Michael and Chloe had instant chemistry and attraction at the altar, and while she was taken aback by the news this was Michael’s second pairing by the experts, she accepted the circumstances and moved forward with a positive attitude. Not only are Married at First Sight viewers witnessing an immediate spark between Michael and Chloe, but the two are enjoying learning about each other and finding their commonalities.

The Experts Get It Wrong A lot (It’s Not A Reflection On Chloe)

The experts should 100% have chosen Chloe for Michael originally. She seems to be Michael’s dream woman, and Michael checks all her boxes in return. Upon their initial failure in matching Michael, the experts never elaborated on what it was about his first bride that was not a good match, aside from pointing out she obviously wasn’t ready. They did not take responsibility for messing up Michael’s pairing and instead stood on precedent that his runaway bride situation was a first in Married at First Sight history.

The experts get their matching wrong a lot, and Chloe being their second choice is not a poor reflection on her. Just this season, the experts dropped the ball in three relationships. In the past three seasons, the experts only have a 6% success rate, making them irresponsible and unreliable. Michael and Chloe are lucky they get the chance to explore their connection, which viewers should have been watching all along this season on Married at First Sight.
