Meanwhile, the original show which pioneered this success, is back on television after a hiatus and is giving fans a lot of entertaining moments. Apart from tackling yet another action-packed mystery, the episode will also see many characters sharing interesting personal moments on screen.

Katrina Law who plays agent Jessica Knight in the show, will be front and center in this narrative. The episode will feature the character introducing her new boyfriend to her dad, Special Agent Feng Zhao played by Russel Wong. Elaborating on the dynamic between the three characters and what audiences can expect, Law spoke to Parade and said,

“It’s not necessarily that he disapproves of Jimmy and the relationship, it’s more about he wants more for his daughter. And he’s worried that his daughter may have stagnated in DC out of a little bit of trauma from losing her React Team. So, he’s basically just checking in with her to make sure that she’s still on the path that she wants to be”

The actor also revealed that she was excited for fans to see a typical father-daughter argument that is always relatable to anyone across the world.

What Can Fans Expect from NCIS’s Special Episode?

In an era where creating and sustaining one season of any narrative is a feat, the NCIS franchise has managed to push through for a staggering 1000 episodes starting from 2003. The original show and its spinoffs together have contributed to this amazing milestone. The special episode will be aired on CBS on April 15th, 2024.

Wilmer Valderama

To celebrate this occasion, CBS sent out an invitation to all the stars from the franchise including the various producers, writers, and network executives, to a special event that saw a lot of nostalgic memories being shared by everyone. NCIS co-showrunners Steven D. Binder and David North who were the pioneers, spoke to Parade about what fans could look forward to in the 1000th episode.

“It will be especially enjoyable for people who’ve been there from the very beginning I think. We really wanted to capture the history from episode one on up. There’s going to be a lot of Easter eggs in the show, too, visual Easter eggs, auditory Easter eggs for longtime fans to look around and be like, ‘Oh, there’s whatever.’”

North also stated that the episode will have many threads from the various NCIS storylines over the years, and will also bring back integral characters like Sean Murray and Wilmer Valderrama who have been mainstays, to share screen space together.
