Married at First Sight season 17 finished airing in late April 2024, and it’s time to look at what cast member Orion Martzloff has been doing since filming ended. Orion got married to Lauren Goodger in season 17. Lauren had never dated outside of her race, but she was Orion’s type. Orion is proud of his Native American heritage and showcased his culture on the show. Orion grew close with the season 17 guys; Austin Reed, Michael Shiakallis, Brennan Shoykhet, and Cameron Frazer.
Season 17 of the Lifetime show was historic for several reasons. It was the longest MAFS season ever, having premiered in mid-October 2023 and ending in late April 2024. It lasted so long because Michael’s original bride ditched him at the altar and he was paired with a new bride, Chloe Brown. They started their eight-week journey while the other couples were already halfway through, prolonging the season. All five couples broke up, and they were the most contentious cast in Married at First Sight history after trying to pull off a failed group dupe to make themselves look better.
Orion & Lauren’s Married at First Sight Journey
Orion and Lauren’s marriage was very promising in the beginning after they had an instant attraction and agreed on many different topics and visions for the future. However, things fell apart during the honeymoon after Lauren made an insensitive racial remark about Orion’s “red skin” that he just couldn’t get over. Orion also couldn’t get over Lauren’s recent sexual history before the show, and that led him to ask for a divorce upon returning from the honeymoon (via Lifetime.)
Orion did say he wanted to repair things with Lauren several times after their breakup, but Lauren grew frustrated with him because he lacked follow-through on his intentions with her. Come the Reunion, Lauren was fiery and alleged that Orion was only on the show to give his Native American heritage a platform. Orion denied that claim and he and Lauren left things off on a sour note despite Orion admitting he could have tried harder.
Orion Expressed Regret In The MAFS Process
In the “Where Are They Now?” episode of Married at First Sight season 17, Orion admitted that he had a regret. He said that he gave up too fast and should have moved in with Lauren to at least try and see if they could work things out since they did have a strong initial connection.
Orion accepted that Lauren didn’t want to be in his life in any capacity and admitted that he was working on his follow-through, this issue Lauren had the biggest problem with.
