MAFS Season 13: The Latest on Brett and Ryan’s Journey

Sparks flew between Brett Layton and Ryan Ignasiak when they met as strangers at the altar and tied the knot on Married at First Sight, or so it seemed from their initial smiles. However, it quickly became apparent that Ryan was not impressed with his new bride, a fact that Brett would soon discover.

The experts matched Brett, a warm and humorous woman who hadn’t been in a relationship for years, with Ryan, a serial dater from Houston ready to settle down with a woman of depth. Dr. Pepper and Pastor Cal hoped that these opposites would attract, but sadly, that did not happen. Brett made significant efforts to make the marriage work, but Ryan showed no interest and refused to admit his lack of attraction to her.

Unsurprisingly, the couple called it quits on Decision Day and later finalized their divorce. But where are Brett and Ryan today?

Viewers were displeased with Ryan due to his treatment of Brett, and his love life post-show only fueled their anger. In 2022, fans were shocked when Ryan appeared on the Season 14 “Where Are They Now” episode with Alyssa Ellman, the season’s villain. That romance quickly fizzled out, but Ryan has since found someone new.

Earlier this year, Ryan went Instagram official with his new girlfriend, Love is Blind star Stacy Snyder. The duo has much in common since, like Ryan, Stacy wasn’t well-liked by viewers during her season on the popular Netflix show. Things seem to be going well for the couple, and when Ryan isn’t with his new love interest, he’s busy training for marathons with MAFS alums Binh Trinh and Airris Williams.

Brett has chosen to stay out of the limelight, and you’d be hard-pressed to find her active on social media. She maintains a private Instagram account and has kept it that way even years after her appearance on the show. Unlike her castmates, who have leveraged their reality TV fame to grow their social media followings, Brett has taken the opposite approach.

She has not accepted friend requests from fans or supporters and still has only 372 Instagram followers, compared to her castmates who boast followings of over 80,000. Without access to her social media, it’s hard to determine if Brett is currently dating. However, she maintains close bonds with her Season 13 friends Myrla Feria, Johnny Lam, and Rachel Gordillo, and they have been traveling the world together.

Professionally, Brett continues to work as a teacher and volleyball coach, as noted in her bio.

Final Thoughts

While Brett and Ryan’s marriage did not last, their post-show paths have diverged significantly. Ryan continues to seek out the limelight and new relationships within the reality TV world, while Brett has chosen a quieter, more private life, focusing on her career and friendships. Their journey reflects the diverse ways individuals navigate life after reality TV.
