General Hospital Spoilers: Carly’s Prison Sentence Is Jason’s Worst Fear – The Real Story Behind John’s Leverage?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that John Cates (Adam Harrington) is holding some serious leverage over Jason Morgan (Steve Burton), but what is that leverage exactly? We know John has incontrovertible proof of RICO violations, which are federal crimes that carry a 20-year sentence.

Jason also spoke in vague terms to Michael Corinthos (Chad Duell) about what would happen if he didn’t complete his mission – and it was something Jason couldn’t live with.

That makes it seem like Jason is protecting someone else instead of himself, so maybe GH writers want us to believe it’s Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard).

However, there may be a twist brewing if Jason is actually going through all this for Carly Spencer (Laura Wright).

These RICO violations may be the result of something Carly did when she took over Sonny’s organization – back when he was stuck in Nixon Falls with no memory of who he was.

If Jason were facing the threat of 20 years in prison, he could probably live with that.

It wouldn’t be ideal for Sonny to land behind bars, but Jason could perhaps live with that, too.

Carly seems like the one person Jason would put everything on the line for.

There’s more of an emotional connection – not to mention it adds to the drama of Jason letting everyone believe he was deceased all this time.

Sam McCall (Kelly Monaco) won’t be happy if Jason bailed on Danny Morgan (Asher Antonyzyn) so he could go play hero for Carly!

Since Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) went to Pentonville for Carly’s sake and faced a lengthy separation from Scout Cain (Cosette Abinate), it makes sense to have Jason be Carly’s protector, too.

It could make Sam furious as she questions why the fathers of her children have insisted on putting Carly first.

This could also make a bigger mess with Sonny, who mentioned the trust that was broken when he came home to find that Carly and Jason were a couple.

Jason and Carly had a wedding, so they were fully prepared to embrace a new chapter as husband and wife.

It wasn’t just for Sonny’s business in the end since Carly and Jason had genuine romantic feelings.

Sonny may feel betrayed once again if he realizes Jason’s focus has potentially been all about protecting Carly. It may leave Sonny feeling like that’s where Jason’s loyalty really lies.
