Asuelu seemed to be trying to even things out with Kalani by offering a hall pass, but really, how can a person make up for cheating by offering a pass that allows someone to cheat, but not cheat? It’s just not the same thing. One person betrays, and the other has permission to play around. It doesn’t actually level out anything, Also, Asuelu must have known that there was a chance Kalani would fall in love with someone else if she used the hall pass. She fell in love with Asuelu almost instantly. Kalani’s a woman who bonds right away.
It seems like Asuelu was looking for an escape hatch i.e. a way out of the madness. When he tried to console his sobbing partner on 90 Day: The Last Resort, he seemed to care, but people are complicated, and part of him may want to run for the hills. By offering her a chance to explore her sexuality with a new man, he was (perhaps intentionally) playing with fire.
