90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After? star Thaís Ramone’s father Carlos is continuing to be mean towards Patrick Mendes, despite the former weight lifting champion’s best efforts. Thaís and Patrick met on a dating app in Brazil, and he proposed to her 11 months later. While Thaís came to the U.S. on a K-1 visa, the Happily Ever After season 8 star was dishonest and kept her real intentions a secret from Carlos. In turn, he refused to give them his blessing. Patrick and Thaís still got married in February 2022 and became parents to Aleesi in November 2022.

Thaís’ relationship with her father has improved a great deal, but the same cannot be said about Carlos’ relationship with his son-in-law, as per a preview clip from ET. Thaís and Patrick are driving in Brazil when Thaís decides to give her dad a call. While Thaís informs her dad that they’re on their way home and her husband is driving, Patrick says, “Hello, Carlos.” Thaís tells her dad that Patrick said hi to him, but Carlos’ shocking reply to Patrick is “Hey…little b**tard.” While Patrick is recovering from Carlos’ rude response, Thaís also criticizes his driving.
Can Patrick & Carlos Improve Their In-Law Relationship?
Thaís starts complaining about Patrick to Carlos as he maintains a straight face and keeps listening to the dad and daughter conversation. Thaís tells her dad that Patrick cannot drive and yells at him when he doesn’t halt at a stop sign. In a confessional, Patrick angrily tells Thaís that he knows how to drive and that she is a “backseat driver.” He says that Thaís should be driving herself if she doesn’t like his driving. Patrick fails to understand why Carlos called him a rude name. “I just got to Brazil, and your dad’s already calling me names,” he snarkily tells Thaís.
However, Thaís isn’t of much help either. She isn’t able to tell Patrick why her dad abused him on the phone. It appears Thaís may have been talking about Patrick behind his back with her dad. She’s seemingly done nothing to improve the relationship between Patrick and her father. Thaís was at fault when she didn’t tell her father she was going to the U.S. to get married. She told him she was going to be back and wasn’t going to stay in America forever. She also didn’t go to see her family for two years.
Thaís may have been telling her dad that Patrick didn’t allow her to see her family, which had led to Carlos having misconceptions about Patrick. Carlos may never respect Patrick because of how Thaís introduced him to her dad. Only a miracle could get him to show his son-in-law some love. Patrick didn’t even know for the longest time that her dad didn’t like him and didn’t want her to marry him.
