As veteran 90 Day Fiance watchers know, age-gap relationships are a calling card of the franchise. And, while there are some examples of those big age differences working out, other times, they don’t. So, is Kenny Niedermeier and Armando Rubio’s age gap finally rearing its ugly head?
90 Day Fiance: Age-Gap Relationships a Hallmark of the TLC Franchise
In many ways, age-gap relationships are the bread and butter of the 90 Day Fiance franchise. Indeed, in addition to factoring in cultural differences, age differences play a big role in terms of where each person is in their lives – and whether or not they can make that mesh with the other person.
As 90 Day Fiance fans know, there are some instances where the 90 Day Fiance age difference works – like with Annie Suwan and David Toborowsky. But, other times, the gap is just too much to overcome, as viewers saw recently with Debbie Aguero and her much younger love interest, Oussama Ahamdane.
Kenny Niedermeier & Armando Rubio Age Difference Hasn’t Been a Big Deal – Until Now
So far in their 90 Day Fiance journey as a couple, Kenny and Armando’s nearly 27-year age gap hasn’t been a major hurdle for them. Indeed, Armando’s biggest challenge was being open about his sexuality and opening up to his family about it.
And, as for Kenny, he left all of his children in the US as he traveled to Mexico to begin a new life with Armando. And, over the course of their first few years together as a couple, things have gone relatively smoothly. But, as 90 Day Fiance fans see in current scenes, it certainly looks like their age gap is starting to become a major issue in their union.
Wanting Kids A Deal-Breaker for This 90 Day Fiance Pair?
As longtime 90 Day Fiance fans know, the straw that typically breaks the camel’s back when it comes to age gap relationships is the younger partner wanting children. In fact, viewers have seen this time and again with Usman Umar, Michael Ilesanmi, and more. And, based on the current storyline between Kenny and Armando, expanding their family seems to be a major sticking point for these two.
With Armando in his mid-thirties and Kenny recently hitting his sixties, Kenny, understandably, doesn’t want to start from scratch raising a child at his age. Meanwhile, Armando is adamant about the pair expanding their family – something that could prove to be a deal-breaker for these two.
In addition, the 90 Day Fiance pair’s living situation is also another point of contention for them. Where Kenny wants to be at the hub of city life in Mexico City, Armando prefers the small-town life away from all the hustle and bustle.
On top of that, many 90 Day Fiance fans thought it was petty of Armando to send Kenny to the supermarket knowing he doesn’t speak a word of Spanish just to make a point. But, Armando testing Kenny in this way left a bad taste in many viewers’ mouths. In fact, Armando sitting back and watching Kenny struggle rubbed many watchers the wrong way – even those that have been rooting for these two for years.
Of course, 90 Day Fiance fans will have to tune in to the rest of The Other Way Season 5 to see how things unfold for these two. But, at least from the outside looking in, it seems as though these issues may be enough to tear these two apart for good if they don’t find some sort of compromise – and soon.
