Alyssa and Chris left the show after their honeymoon, but that didn’t stop the former stars from giving their opinions on Alyssa. According to Showbiz Cheat Sheet, AJ Vollmoeller from season 8 called Alyssa “close-minded,” while another season 8 star, Kristine Killingsworth, commented that Alyssa didn’t try hard enough, as “[Alyssa] wouldn’t even talk to [Chris].” Meka Jones from season 10 criticized Alyssa for being unrealistic with her expectations, which led to her lashing out at her husband, with Paige Banks from season 12 agreeing with Chris’ decision to divorce.

Former MAFS participants aren’t the only ones still criticizing Alyssa for her treatment of Chris, as fans online agree. After Alyssa gave an interview to Distractify in February, Reddit user u/Otherwise_Roll_655 uploaded the article for discussion, and fans didn’t hold back. Many users criticized Alyssa’s avoidance of Chris from day one. They argued that she should’ve been honest about her feelings instead of dragging out the relationship, with one fan summarizing, “Alyssa would have gained a lot more respect if she had just been honest with everyone and said she was not attracted to Chris… and just got out of the [MAFS] contract.”
While most MAFS matches aren’t successful in the long run, watching two strangers grow a relationship from the moment they meet and get married is enjoyable. Although this method of matchmaking is unconventional, what becomes essential is a person’s commitment to the journey they signed up for. Alyssa didn’t trust her path on Married at First Sight and rightfully became a villain.
