GH actor Réal Andrews hasn’t been seen on-screen since 2023. Has he left the show? He shared the latest news on his absence from the sudser. Keep reading for all the details.
Last Time Viewers Saw Taggert
Réal Andrews first joined General Hospital in 1996 as Marcus Taggert, a cop who grew up in the same neighborhood as Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard.) He had a vendetta against Sonny and was determined to take him down.
The actor’s first stint on the soap lasted only a year, but he returned in 1998 for a while. The show eventually fleshed Taggert out by bringing his sister Gia (Marisa Ramirez) to town. He also had several romantic entanglements.
Réal Andrews left General Hospital in 2003 when his character left town. He returned in 2020 and was revealed to be the father of Trina Robinson (Tabyana Ali.)
However, a major recent storyline revealed that he isn’t her biological father, and Curtis Ashford (Donnell Turner) is. Taggert didn’t handle the news well, turning to the bottle for comfort.
Many General Hospital fans were unhappy about the storyline. Some hope that it was a classic soap opera case of switched test results. However, Taggert’s last appearance was in 2023, leaving fans hanging.

Réal Andrews Addresses Speculation Surrounding GH Departure
Réal Andrews is hugely popular among GH fans. One fan asked him on Instagram when Taggert will be back on the soap. The actor hinted that his departure wasn’t his decision. “I think at this point, it’s really going to be up to you guys, and God, first and foremost,” he responded.
The soap vet encouraged fans to let the soap know they wanted him back. “With your support, you guys have a very loud voice, especially in today’s day and age. So between God and you all making a bunch of noise, if it’s meant to be I’ll be back, and if I’m back, I’ll bring it. That’s what I do,” he added.
