Married At First Sight Season 18 Conflicts Explained (What’s To Come?)

A trailer for Married at First Sight season 18 has been dropped, and it depicts drama and strong personalities that fans can look forward to watching. Season 17 just finished airing its final “Where Are They Now?” episode, and viewers were treated to an official trailer clip at the end of the episode. Season 17 can be considered a massive failure. In two Married a First Sight firsts, there was a runaway bride, and the victim in the situation, Michael Shiakallis, was paired a second time and ultimately said no on Decision Day while his bride, Chloe Brown, said yes.

Only one couple in Married at First Sight season 17 said yes on Decision Day, Austin Reed and Becca Haley, only to break up the next day. Two other couples, Clare Kerr and Cameron Frazer and Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet, showed up to Decision Day to say no to their partners after breaking up earlier on in the season. Seasons 1-7 of Married at First Sight followed three couples through the experiment, while seasons 8 and 9 followed four. Every season after has featured five couples. In the 64 couples matched, only 17% have stayed together in lasting marriages.

A MAFS Season 18 Bride Will Get Cold Feet

In Married at First Sight season 17, Michael’s bride made her way down the aisle to the altar only to tell him that she couldn’t marry a stranger before she walked out. Michael handled the situation maturely but broke down once he was away from the wedding crowd (via ET.) It was a heartbreaking situation to watch, and one that may get repeated in Married at First Sight season 18. In the preview clip, an unknown bride is walking and acting nervous while a voice presumed to be hers says something signaling she has cold feet.

“Would it be the end of the world if I just literally didn’t do this?”

Plenty of the MAFS brides have expressed anxiety and concern before meeting their stranger husbands, which seems normal for the intense experience. However, another runaway bride situation would not only be devastating for whoever is on the receiving end but also for viewers who are eager to see more successful pairings. The bride usually has friends and family there to encourage them, but it’s possible the situation may prove to be to overwhelming and they won’t go through with the wedding.

One MAFS Season 18 Couple Will Question Marriage Longevity

While it’s common for Married at First Sight couples to say yes to each other on Decision Day only to breakup shortly after or within the first year, it is not what the experiment is aiming for. In season 18, it looks like one couple will be questioning their longevity early on.

“Do you see a world where we can last forever?” the man asks.

“Forever is a long time,” the woman responds. While the wayward exchange may be chalked up to early experiment jitters, that’s not the most confident response to signal everything is going well between that couple. The exchange seemed to be on the honeymoon portion of the process.

One yet-unknown couple will have an ugly interaction about needing space, which does not bode well for their potential success. The Married at First Sight experience is eight weeks long, and in that time, the couples are with each other pretty much 24/7 outside of working hours. In that time, they are doing the hard work to get to know each other on a deeper level, and not everyone handles the closeness and vulnerability well.

“You want your motherf***ing space I will give it to you.”

That is the verbiage the man in one of the couples used before getting up from the table he was seated at. The MAFS couples don’t have the luxury of space, but they knew that when they signed up for the experiment. Hopefully, the experts will step in to handle the volatility in this particular interaction so that the couple’s issues don’t get bigger than they can handle.

Allegations Of Lies Will Be Thrown In Season 18

Another ugly interaction between one of the Married at First Sight Chicago couples will result in the bride exclaiming, “You’re f***ing lying!” That was in response to the groom stating that his wife hadn’t texted or called him. While this particular fight seems to be over a communication breakdown, it’s possible that there is more negativity and weight behind it.

Married at First Sight season 17 had major problems with lies being told in each marriage, so the fact that lying is being brought up by the new cast is not a good sign.

One Season 18 Cast Member Will Make Strong Statements

Even more tension will go down between a MAFS season 18 couple, and it looks like it will be over personality differences.

“I’m not everybody cup of tea but I’m somebody Hennessy and Coke and in four weeks there ain’t gonna be no marriage.”

The fact that the man is asserting that he has a difficult personality means that the experts probably didn’t select a person well-suited for the Married at First Sight experiment.

Who Will Be The Married At First Sight Experts?

Married at First Sight Experts Dr. Pia, Dr Pepper and Pastor

The Married at First Sight season 18 trailer depicts that all three season 17 experts, Pastor Cal Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Dr. Pia Holec will be returning. All three dropped the ball in recognizing the dupe the season 17 cast members laid on them, and the experts admitted there was more they should have done for the couples to be successful. Hopefully, they’ve learned from their season 17 mistakes and have not only become better matchmakers, but better-equipped therapists to guide the Chicago hopefuls through the experience.
