Married At First Sight Season 17 Has Been A Disappointment

Long-time fans of Married At First Sight have been disappointed in the most recent season. The love experts seem to have failed at placing compatible couples together. Most of the pairs have chosen not to continue their relationship long before Decision Day and there is little hope that the others will make it. It has undoubtedly been the worst season yet as far as fans are concerned.

Many viewers believe a number of the cast members from Season 17 are only interested in being in the spotlight rather than finding their match. This has happened in the past, but it is usually only a select few who aren’t on the show for the purpose of finding love. This season it seems to be the overarching theme.

However, there is some good news for MAFS viewers. It has been shared that there is a spinoff that will be introduced soon. The new show will reportedly include individuals who are 55 and older. The main idea here is to weed out the younger people who are only interested in being on television.

What We Know About The MAFS Spinoff

Although the concept of the 55+ MAFS spinoff is new to viewers, it has actually been in the works for a while now. There is even information about what the first season will entail already.

Season 1 of the spinoff will take place in Texas. Long-time MAFS fans will know that two seasons of the original series have been filmed in Texas. Season 7 was filmed in Dallas and Season 13 took place in Houston. The first season of the new spinoff will take place in another Texas city: Austin.

The production company, Kinetic Content, shared their casting call in December 2023. “NOW CASTING SINGLES WHO ARE 55+ for Married At First Sight! Nominate someone with a DM or APPLY ON YOUR OWN if you are ready to take the ULTIMATE leap of faith!,” they shared on Instagram. Kinetic’s post specifically noted that they were searching for people 55+.

It is assumed that the spinoff will follow the same format as the original series. There will likely be love experts in the mix who are trying to help the couples work things out as they navigate the beginning of their relationships. That being said, it is not clear as to whether the current love experts will be used on the new show or not.

A release date for the MAFS spinoff has not yet been announced, but it is known that they have completed casting for Season 1. This means that filming is likely happening right now. So, fans anticipating the release of the new show can expect later this year.
