General Hospital Spoilers: Rena Sofer Off Contract – Is Lois Cerullo Leaving GH?

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that there’s some news to report about a cast member who was recently dropped to recurring status. Based on the show’s credits following the February 23 episode, Rena Sofer (Lois Cerullo) is now off contract.

Now some fans might be wondering what that means for Lois’ future.

Sometimes viewers can get a little anxious when a cast member goes from a contract player to a recurring role, especially when an entertaining character like Lois Cerullo is involved.

However, we should point out that Rena Sofer’s return was originally supposed to be a temporary thing.

Back in October, Sofer gave an interview to SOD and talked about how Executive Producer Frank Valentini asked if she’d “be willing to come back for a short amount of time.”

Sofer also called herself a “guest” at GH and discussed “walking into these months of work with a lot of gratitude.”

With all that in mind, some fans have been surprised that Lois stuck around this long – especially when her inclusion was really meant to be part of Ned Quartermaine’s (Wally Kurth) “Eddie Maine” storyline.

That said, there’s another good reason for Lois to stick around on recurring. Harrison Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn Quartermaine (Amanda Setton) are getting married, so Lois has been a big part of planning the wedding.

Lois will obviously need to be on hand for the marriage festivities when the time comes, so we at least know she’ll be around that long.

Of course, it’s possible Lois will continue on recurring after that as well. Plans can change, so Sofer probably feels less like a guest and more at home on her old soap turf now.

Regardless, Rena Sofer was never supposed to stay on contract – and it honestly makes sense to drop her down to recurring since Lois Cerullo isn’t involved in any major storylines.

Bickering with Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) about wedding invitations isn’t the same as being tangled up in all the mob drama or something else that’s taking center stage.

In other words, Sofer’s recurring status is expected and no cause for immediate alarm. Lois will at least stay for the upcoming wedding and perhaps beyond that depending on how things play out.

General Hospital spoilers say Brook Lynn and Chase’s nuptials will come with some surprises, so stay tuned for updates on all the fun.
