General Hospital Spoilers: Male Boss Rewrite Leads to Shocking Reveal – Mason & Austin Working for Unexpected Villain

General Hospital (GH) spoilers indicate that the show has clearly decided to shift gears and take a current storyline down a new path. GH fans know Mason Gatlin (Nathanyael Grey) and Austin Gatlin-Holt (Roger Howarth) are working for a mystery boss – one who was previously referred to as “she” and “her.”

However, Mason suddenly began referring to the boss as “he” and “him” instead in the August 14 episode.

It was a huge change that had social media buzzing about the reason for this gender swap, so let’s talk about that for a moment.

The obvious explanation is that there wasn’t a firm plan in place when the show kicked off this storyline.

There might’ve been a vague idea about a female boss and even a few possibilities, but nothing was set in stone.

Now that this storyline’s heating up and the show’s locking in their final answer, they indeed have a boss in mind – and that boss is definitely a guy now.

Of course, that opens the door to new speculation on who this male mystery boss might be.

One option is Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) if he’s in charge behind the scenes in prison, but his recent behavior didn’t make it seem like he was running the show.

Instead, it seemed more like Cyrus was simply connected to Austin and Mason’s boss in some way – like he knew far more about their family and the whole operation than he was letting on.

However, there’s another boss option to consider based on buzz from a Bold and the Beautiful fan event about Ted King (ex-Lorenzo Alcazar) meeting with GH Executive Producer Frank Valentini.

If the show’s bringing Lorenzo Alcazar back from the grave, he could be the unexpected villain revealed at the end of all this.

That’d be a welcome twist for many fans – and it could set up the revival of Lorenzo’s feud with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) once the drama blows up.

It’s possible another blast-from-the-past character will be exposed as the boss instead, but at least this storyline is finally building toward a big reveal that’ll hopefully be satisfying.
