Are Emily and Brennan From ‘MAFS’ Still Together? Fans Are Not Happy With His Behavior
During Season 17, Married at First Sight touches down in Denver, Colo. where we were introduced to five new couples. One of which is Emily Balch and Brennan Shoykhet. Emily, an account executive, had never been in a serious relationship. However, she takes a leap of faith and ties the knot with Brennan, a Senior NetSuite Consultant at Sikich. It’s a decision they first seem pleased with.
Perhaps, it’s because Emily accidentally got a sneak peek of what Brennan looked like prior to their big day, as she exclusively told Distractify in an October 2023 interview.
Upon walking down the aisle, Emily told us: “I was very pleased with what I saw and very excited that he was all mine.”
MAFS resident matchmaking expert Pastor Cal Roberson explained the reasoning behind their match.
“They are two ambitious and adventurous individuals with successful careers, vibrant social lives, and strong values that we believe align perfectly,” he said during the season premiere. “Even though Emily’s never been in a serious relationship, we’re confident she’s ready to be the supportive and longing partner that Brennan longs for.”
Things start out rosy, but do they last?
Are Emily and Brennan from ‘MAFS’ Season 17 still together?
We do not know if Emily and Brennan are still together, but with the way things are going during Season 17, it seems unlikely that they’re still together, as things start to get rocky. Following the couple’s honeymoon, the next step is for them to move in together. But Brennan doesn’t seem too excited about the idea, and decides to take some time alone, telling Emily that they would “reconvene” in a few days. Emily is, of course, hurt by her new husband’s request.
After Emily’s accident, she and Brennan get closer, however. And they both even agree that their relationship improved after Brennan remains by Emily’s side. But in the Feb. 28 episode of MAFS, we see things come to a head. He admits that Emily’s negativity is something that became a deal-breaker for him. He explains that “the negatively caused there to be no chance” of them staying together. Later, Emily tells producers, “I hate him.”

Emily and Brennan still have Decision Day to get through, during which one or both of them could change their mind about their marriage. But MAFS viewers were quick to call out the couple’s potentially doomed fate.
Fans have been upset by Brennan’s behavior, and are rooting for Emily to leave the relationship. “My heart hurts for Emily. Brennan is an a hole for how he treating her. He is so cold and is dimming her light,” wrote one fan on X. Another told her to “run,” followed by three red flag emojis. Hopefully, Emily got the memo and decided to put herself first.
