Sophie went to private school and traveled to a lot of places. Sophie said she was really “lucky” to have had such a life.

“I also had a lot of really tough experiences in life,” Sophie added. Sophie’s childhood wasn’t as rosy as she claimed. Sophie is of mixed race. She was born to a white mom and a black dad. Sophie was raised in Spain. She used to be the only black or mixed-race child in her whole school and there weren’t any black people around when she was growing up. Sophie failed to make friends at school. She was bullied as a child, and she struggled to fit in. Sophie said she went through a lot of difficult things.
However, Sophie knows that these experiences led to her being the person she is today and also led to her meeting the love of her life, Rob.
Sophie was following several Instagram pages about “cute mixed-race guys.” She saw Rob’s profile on one of them, and he was the only guy on the page she followed because she thought he was cute. Sophie and Rob got along so well the first time they talked that they ended up doing a FaceTime call for eight hours. There were no silences between them.
Sophie said that even though they were from opposite sides of the world, and she was raised in a nice area, and he was raised in a “rough area”, they had very similar childhood experiences. Sophie spoke about both her and Rob having dealt with racism, and they had both never fit in with anyone. Rob, like Sophie, had been bullied as well. She revealed that her father wasn’t around most of the time when she was a little girl. Meanwhile, Sophie’s mom, Claire, was struggling with substance abuse. Sophie told the cameras that Claire was not able to raise Sophie the way she should have.

Sophie revealed that it was she was looking after her mom, Claire, and not the other way around. Sophie was a parentified child. Parentification occurs when a child is forced to take on adult responsibilities and behaviors before they are ready to do so, like Sophie, who took up the role of the friend and carer for her mom as she struggled with her addiction. Sophie said it was one of the major reasons why she was trying to make her relationship with Rob work despite his repeated cheating.

Sophie revealed her mom had overdosed before, and it was Sophie who had to “basically, save her life.” Sophie wants to believe her life with Rob can get better, but her mom thinks that Rob has a p*rn addiction. Sophie wanted to give Rob the benefit of the doubt.
